How to Get Your Business Recommended by ChatGPT
No one outside OpenAI knows exactly how ChatGPT chooses which businesses to mention, and no tool can guarantee a recommendation. What you can control is how easy it is for AI systems to find clear, consistent, trustworthy facts about you. When ChatGPT searches the web for an answer, it reads the same public pages, listings and reviews everyone else can.
1. Make your website say the basics in plain text
Your business name, what you do, the city and areas you serve, your address, phone and hours should be on your site as readable text, not only inside images.
2. Add LocalBusiness schema markup
Structured data (JSON-LD using schema.org) labels those facts so machines don't have to guess. See our schema guide.
3. Keep your details identical everywhere
Use the same name, address and phone (NAP) on your site, Google Business Profile, Yelp, Facebook, Apple Maps and industry directories. Conflicting info makes it harder for any system to trust which is right.
4. Answer real customer questions
An FAQ page and one page per service give AI assistants specific, quotable answers: what you charge, how long it takes, which neighborhoods you cover.
5. Earn genuine reviews
Ask satisfied customers to leave reviews and respond to them. Never buy or fake reviews; it breaks platform rules and can get your listing penalized.
6. Don't accidentally block AI crawlers
Check your robots.txt. Some site builders and security plugins block bots by default. Decide deliberately which you allow.
7. Get mentioned by others
Local news, chamber of commerce listings, sponsorships and "best of" lists from real local publications are the kind of independent sources AI answers often draw on.
